Crossing The Line: The Business Impact of Sexual HarassmentTM Some of the most confusing workplace issues facing managers and staff today are gender related. When is it just kidding around and when does it become sexual harassment? JH&A's two seminars, Crossing The Line: The Business Impact of Sexual Harassment TM and Managing Within The Law deal with the above and other questions directly. Crossing The LineTM is a dynamic seminar in an interactive forum that invokes candid dialogue about this complex topic. It moves beyond legal definitions of sexual harassment to deal with the underlying causes so that managers and individual contributors can prevent and resolve incidents before they escalate. Participants learn why sexual harassment happens, how to manage and eliminate it, and how to intervene effectively when it occurs. Our trainers use case studies, dramatizations, and interactive exercises to enhance participants' skills in preventing sexual harassment. We also explore why one person's casual intent may be seen by another as harassing and harmful to his or her productivity. There are two versions of Crossing The LineTMfull-day or half-day programs geared either to managers who may handle sexual harassment complaints or toward individual contributors. Managing Within The Law goes beyond the issues of sexual harassment and explores the other categories of liability covered by The Americans with Disabilities Act, The Family Medical Leave Act, Performance Reviews, etc. |

You Be the Judge -an excerpt
After dinner Bob leaned over and whispered to Alice "You know my wife is out of town this weekend. Perhaps you'd like to come over and tuck me in?" Alice replied very sternly "Get a life" and walked away. On Monday morning, Bob reminded her of her missed opportunity. Alice ignored him and walked away again, staying in her office the rest of the day to avoid him. Tuesday morning he left for an out of town conference followed by a week's vacation.
Two weeks later Alice received a promotion, partly due to a glowing recommendation from Bob.
Welcome to "You Be the Judge", our four-part series unfolding weekly, highlighting some of the sexual harassment issues facing companies today.
We have created scenarios showing situations and reactions by employees and managers.
The intent is to provide some insight as to how harassment can occur in companies, and what some of the potential liabilites may be, not to create a definitive, legal definition of sexual harassment. Any potential harassment litigation should always be discussed with your counsel and their advice followed.
This series is fiction, and any similarities to real people or incidents is purely coincidental. |
